Alexa + James

I found Alexa & James through a model call. My model call was broad, I wanted more diversity in my portfolio. I said: “Let’s face it, almost all of my work is photos of white, straight couples.” It’s important to me that everyone feels welcome to be in front of my camera. This is a safe space. I welcome all humans, regardless of race, gender, religion, identity, and sexual orientation. Truly believe that love is love and all humans are good humans.

The goal of their session was to do spend a Saturday morning how they would normally spend it, just with a lady with a camera following them around. We started at a coffee shop in Rochester, then went to the Library. The two of them absolutely love reading, Alexa even works at a bookstore. So, this was the perfect plan for them.

We were lucky to have a beautiful sunshiny day despite it being early spring when weather is so often wet, cold, and unpredictable. I loved the opportunity to play with light a bit in the street as we walked around.

Thank you to Alexa and James for helping me to build a stronger, more inclusive body of work. I truly hope that this helps to make others feel welcome here.
