Charlie’s Fresh 48

On January 26th, 2025, I captured Gabbie’s labor and delivery process. (Link here). The next day, I went back to the hospital for a “Fresh 48” session and to document the moment when Scottie became a big sister.

We started the session with just mom, dad, and their newborn, Charlotte “Charlie” Mae. The gender of their baby was a surprise, so Gabbie and Anthony had two names picked out, one for a boy and one for a girl. They were prepared, their hospital bag included props for either gender— the wooden scrabble pieces that spell out the name, a “little sister” and “little brother” bracelet, and a sign saying “It’s a Girl!” and “It’s a Boy!” They also brought polaroid photos they had taken of Scottie to put in the hospital bassinet so that Scottie could hang out with her sister before actually meeting her— stop, my heart!

About halfway through our session Scottie arrived to meet her little sister, escorted by her Grandma, “Lovie.” Scottie walked in with a balloon and flowers for her parents. She was so excited to meet her little sister and immediately wanted to hold her. She showed Charlie the polaroid pictures of herself and watched excitedly as we moved around the room capturing the new family of four.
