Pronto Pups Engagement Session

Mitch and Lauren are one of my “Caberfae Couples” for 2026. After getting married at Caberfae myself, I fell in love with the venue and knew I wanted to shoot other couples’ weddings there. I became a preferred vendor with Caberfae shortly after and now serve many, many couples there for their special day. It’s so fun to be a part of other weddings there, at a place that’s so special in my heart. Read more about my wedding at Caberfae here.

One goal I set for myself going into 2025 was that I would try to get my couples to go for something more unique and authentic to them for their engagement sessions. Going to a pretty place to take pretty photos can be great, but I wanted to challenge both myself and my couples to aim for doing an activity or a date that they would actually do in real life if a lady wasn’t following them around with a camera. The thought here was that it would give me more of a chance to lean into the documentary style photography that I love and constantly strive for in my work. Having something to do naturally gives couples the opportunity to just “be” rather than the three of us awkwardly staring at each other while I wait for the couple to do something cute, or, on the flip side, be constantly directing and posing the entire time.

Lauren and Mitch loved this concept. We discussed what they like to do in their daily lives, what they like to do for fun on the weekend, etc. Several ideas came up; walking around Reed’s Lake in East Grand Rapids, getting ice cream, playing pickleball, walking on the beach, and getting Pronto Pups. We ultimately decided together that walking on the boardwalk and grabbing Pronto Pups would be the perfect activity for their session, and really a fun date for the two of them!

I’m utterly obsessed with these and I really shouldn’t be because I’m a vegetarian. But I love it. Cheers to you, Mitch and Lauren. Thank you for leaning in to this. I can’t wait for your wedding at Caberfae next June.
